yes indeed.debbie was involved throughout the whole of "in this world".her first direct involvement came with "playtime" on the abstract magazine compilation in 1985.she recited part of the poem and played saxophone during that recording.the wright family, originally from nottingham, lived at the foot of ben nevis.they had a guest house
called "achintee",that climbers and hikers en route to the mountain would stay at.we met debbie and her younger brother, alex, when the freeze played
at a hotel on the outskirts of fort william,in the late 1970's.we played there regularly, they were always in the audience and soon became firm friends.we eventually started staying at the guest house on our trips north.debbie lived in a caravan out in the back garden and had a "pet" deer.the rest of the family couldn't have been more accomodating.they eventually started their own post-punk band and played a few gigs with us.by the time we were about to start recording "in this world",debbie and alex had relocated to london (via edinburgh) and were ready to join forces with us.both alex and debbie had a great influence on both albums.alex's experimentation was one of the mainstays of that whole period of cindytalk.after "in this world",alex became one of the creative forces of the mutoid waste collective, based in berlin.debbie joined up later once they were firmly encamped in rimini (italy).post mutoids, debbie formed a london-based radical dyke quartet called mouth almighty (a pre-echobelly debbie smith was also in this band).alex has been djing and producing under the name wreckage inc in both london and edinburgh for a number of years and is signed to wall of sound records.

alex is also a very talented cartoonist.he did a whole series of drawings of the making of "in this world".they were brilliant, taking the piss out each one of us.john byrne was a superhero called captain beaufant (his hair was starting to grow upwards and we were listening to a lot of beefheart at the time),i was in my huffypants phase (am i still in it?),so i came off badly as a wee fat thing sitting in the corner, ignoring everyone and continuously eating monkey nuts.my crazy dog shaman was also there,as a lean mean barking machine, scaring the shit out of everybody, including me!i tried a few years back to track the drawings down but i didn't manage, might well try again as they could be of some interest, even at this great distance.captain beaufant though,i wonder if he ever managed to save the day....
