...The spiritS behind the circus dream...

This photo resurfaced a while ago.
The time?
The people?
This?

"Cindytalk was formed in 1982 by Gordon Sharp (Vocals) and David Clancy (Guitar, Keyboards) from the ashes of Edinburgh based punk/new wave band The Freeze. The Freeze (1976-1982) released two 7inch singles, recorded two John Peel sessions and played extensively around the UK supporting many big name bands of the time. After re-locating to London in 1982,Cindytalk began to work towards their debut album Camouflage Heart, with a newer, darker and more fractured sound that drew much from post-punk and early european industrial music. In 1983 Sharp and Clancy were joined by John Byrne who proved to be a crucial component in Cindytalk's deliberately disintegrating sound..."

Hello,
Great posts here again! I corrected the link on the Playtime blog but you can also see it on my other blog: http://von-k.hautetfort.com/ where you can listen to very good sounds (my band, for example, Pull My Daisy!! I sing...)
Bye bye till the next time!

this photograph, from 1984,was taken by cliff ash (who also took the 'desire' photos for "camouflage heart") in the car park at london's famous alexandra palace, where incidentally the bbc's 'first regular high defintion tv broadcasts' were made.from right to left are : me,john byrne and david clancy.this was the line-up at the time of recording the aforementioned "camouflage heart".david and i both lived nearby in the vacinity of crouch end.john lived in willesden if i remember correctly.

the "circus dream" was a devon-based fanzine by ross reid.he became interested in the freeze after hearing the john peel sessions.i travelled down to saltash to visit him and we became good friends.
so technically HE was the spirit behind the circus dream, rather than us.though, you could say we were the spirits behind 'the spirit behind the circus dream' ;-P

i love the track, and i am pleasantly surprised the title has a such a 'realistic' (pardon the phrase) background.

you might be surprised by how much of that album is based on some kind of "reality".. for example "memories of skin and snow"... ;-/

Let's not explain all right away... leave some for 2007 :) Maybe the archivist can help 'reveal' some?

Oh,the archivist is always at work.
Persistence finally yielded fruit and a few weeks ago I managed to get hold of a 1996 *LIVE* recording in Seattle...
