Follow Sun Ra

I SOLD EVERYTHING I OWNED
YESTERDAY
WHAT I COULDN'T SELL
I THREW AWAY

WHAT I DIDN'T THROW
I LIT A FIRE I DUG A HOLE
SOME THINGS NEED A RITUAL
BEFORE YOU LET THEM GO

IT'S TIME TO GO
IT'S TIME TO LEAVE
IT'S TIME TO DISAPPEAR

TO FOLLOW SUN RA

CARTHAGE NINEVAH JUPITER MARS
CARTHAGE NINEVAH JUPITER MARS
CARTHAGE NINEVAH JUPITER MARS
CARTHAGE NINEVAH JUPITER MARS

I'M GOING HOME...

"It's like the sun and the stars in the sky, who are following a schedule. I have to follow that schedule whether I've got one musician or no musicians; I have to do what I have to do."

Oh,the shame!
Thing is,the credits in the cards accompanying the CDs do not say so but as we know the credits, song listings, etc are a mess.
For example,my iTunes read the track as "Amethyst" and classified it as New Age!!!!

hmmm actually,i wasn't referring to just this dreadful version of "follow sun ra" but to the whole cindytalk contribution for the album.so maybe you're right, stuart might not play on this track.can't remember.i had my sound turned off and didn't realise there was a song added, was thinking of the overall project.feel free to take his name off the credit and also deleting these messages,it might just confuse.i'm seriously embarrassed by the cindytalk pieces on this album.i wish we'd never done them.

p.s. there was a cindytalk version of "follow sun ra" which was aimed at "fieryplaneteyes" but after it was remixed and used on ATF2 i decided to shelve it. i like the lyric (printed) but the song lost it's way for me with this version, sadly.

p.p.s. that sun ra quote... never seen it before but it's almost a perfect example why the song title nods in his direction.arigato!

I checked the corrections on the After the Flood site and there is no mention to any mistakes in the credits to this song, though who knows!
I like the track but I understand what you mean.
How different was the original FPE's version?

it was knocked off the rails before it was completed but it was a fuller sound and i had ideas of bringing noise into it.also the vocal was stronger,i improvised the voice with an effect in tandem, letting the voice rise and fall with the sound.allowing myself to disappear inside the song then reappear,so it made more sense.stripped of that it just sounds wrong to me.the same could be said for all the cindytalk vocal contributions on the album.i was improvising/sketching which i then intended to edit into shorter minimal poetic approaches but i wasn't around when the album was completed and everything i sang was used.that's always jarred with me as it utterly contradicted my intention.

There's a lesson in all this. Avoid situations where control is not completely in your grasp. I suppose you have done that for the most part and it's inevitable that you'll get caught out occasionally. Good for me personally though, I really like this song.

Totally agree with every bit,PO.

yes,i think you may have a point there ;-)

Hmmm... i can hear CARTHAGE NINEVAH JUPITER MARS... with a really strong Paul Middleton drum pattern and a bit of heavy rythmic bass...perhaps. :-)
