that rhino poster is quite famous.i've seen it in a few telly programmes over the years.one a drama that was set in the late 1970's and also a documentary on ska from a few years back.

On telly they're showing re-runs of the classic series "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet" and it's odd seing Gary Holton again. He was the lead singer in a
rawk band in the mid 1970's called Heavy Metal Kids, whom i did quite like in 1974.They were more pre-punky that metally - in my defence - but listening back, they are pretty awful ;-/
Anyroads, when Dave Vanian, the Damned's lead singer was struck down with a throat infection before the above gig/tour in 1979,they drafted in Gary Holton as replacement singer and jokily changed their name to the Doomed.During the soundcheck
i sidled up to Gary Holton and told him i was a fan of HMK (as well as the Damned),he turned to me and said, "So What!?" and walked away!!!
Ya gotsta larf,intchya....
