before i started work on relaunching the full band cindytalk for live actions some years back, i would daydream about having robert hampson play guitar with us.i remember checking out his myspace page to see what he was up to.he'd disbanded MAIN (one of my all time favourite groups) to work solo and i learnt from reading his page that he'd also abandoned the guitar completely.i was obviously aware that his MAIN work had become so abstracted that if the guitar was still there it was sounding less and less like one as time went by - probably one of the reasons i loved him so much.i decided not to contact him.fast forward to my first meeting with peter rehberg to discuss editions MEGO releasing my own non-musical abstractions in 2009.as he sat down he said, "i hope you don't mind but i've invited robert hampson to join us a bit later?"
jings crivvens and help ma boab, i nearly jumped out of my seat... i said, aye ok no problem.when i regained my composure i told peter about my hampson daydreaming.peter said, "well you can ask him now".i didn't of course, i waited for at least 12 months til we'd become firm friends... tomorrow that daydream becomes a reality... i have a feeling it will be quite wonderful.the first of many i hope.oh and he's re-booting MAIN and has asked me to participate with that... ;-)

(purely) personal tech problems aside, the cindytalk show in brussels on friday was immense.great city, great venue, great organisation, great crowd.i felt a huge surge of warmth as we finished playing.dreams do come true!!!playing alongside robert hampson was truly one of the great moments in my life.i mean seriously, this kind of majesty is so very rare.thank you robert, for the music, for the connection, for the knowledge.in all honesty, it blew me away.i've been attempting to put it into some kind of perspective with great difficulty.it felt as though i was not quite there, like i was watching it from a distance and i wasn't sure if that was positive or negative but ultimately i think it just blew my fucking mind and i'm only now beginning to work it out.after all these years of playing i'm thrilled that i'm still able to experience such dizziness...
